Here are a few of the events that Pack 82 hosts or attends during a typical year.
The Pinewood Derby might be the quintessential event in Cub Scouting. It is a racing event for unpowered, unmanned miniature cars. With the help of adults, Scouts build their own cars from wood, usually from kits containing a block of pine wood, plastic wheels, and metal axles. The Pinewood Debry has inspired other Cub Scout racing events including the Space Derby where scouts craft a rubber band powered "flyer" out of a block of balsa wood, and the Rain Gutter Regatta which is the sailboat equivalent of the Pinewood Derby.
Blue and Gold Banquet
Blue and Gold Banquets are a tradition in Cub Scout packs. They are a celebration of the anniversary of the founding of the BSA on February 8, 1910, and therefore usually take the place of the February pack meeting. Often, badges of rank are awarded. The Arrow of Light ceremony may even be included as the 5th graders cross over to a Scouts BSA troop.
Ice Crea Social and Rocket Launch
The Ice Cream Social is the spring event where scouts receive the badges that they've earned throughout the year. They also get a chance to fire off the model rockets that they've made!
